The concepts of yin and yang originated in ancient Chinese philosophy.
They represent the interconnectedness, dynamic equilibrium, and relative balance of opposing yet complementary forces.
You cannot have one without the other.
Everything in the universe can be classified into correspondences that are relatively more yin or relatively more yang
When yin and yang in the body are out of balance, this leads to illness or what’s known in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as “patterns of disharmony”.
For example, in cases of excess yang patterns, you may notice signs of fever or a sensation of heat, red complexion, irritability, restlessness, extreme thirst, constipation, etc.
Ultimately, we want to support and regulate the dynamic balance of yin and yang in the body.
Whether that’s nourishing deficiencies, clearing excess, or regulating functions, acupuncture is a natural, effective, and non-invasive method to cultivate harmony within.
