Cupping is the use of a flame and glass cups to create a vacuum type suction on the skin to loosen muscle tightness and fascial adhesions, encourage circulation to targeted areas, and induce relaxation.
Think of it like a massage but instead of downward pressure into the muscle, the cups pull the tissue up and away from the body.
This treatment is a great pick-me-up option for when you're stressed, tense/tight, or feeling down.
Please be aware that you may leave with red or purple marks on your skin after a cupping session. This is a common side effect and can last up to a week or more.
Chinese Herbal Medicine Therapy
This session includes a herbal assessment and consultation. Cost of herbs are separate and vary by formulation.
Herbal formulas are provided in concentrated granule form to take home. This is to be mixed with warm water and consumed like a tea.
Herbal consultations are also available during traditional and facial acupuncture sessions. Chinese herbs work harmoniously with acupuncture and can enhance the efficacy of your treatments.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha is the traditional practice of using the edge of a smooth tool (usually made from stone, metal, or horn) to manually scrape tight areas of the body to release fascial adhesions.
It can improve circulation and reduce inflammation in the affected areas. This modality can be added on to other services to support your treatment. Please be aware that you may leave with red or purple marks on your skin after a body gua sha session. This is a common side effect and can last up to a week or more.
Facial gua sha is a much gentler process that uses light pressure without producing red/purple marks on the skin. It is used to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, reduce puffiness, induce relaxation, and promote lymphatic drainage. This service is available as part of the facial rejuvenation acupuncture treatment offered at the clinic.
Ear Seeds
Seeds from the vaccaria plant that are positioned on a small adhesive square are carefully placed onto specific acupressure points on the outer ear. These points correspond to one's patterns of disharmony.
They are gently massaged daily by the patient to activate the targeted organs or body systems to promote a healing response. They remain on the ears for up to 5 days.
This type of auriculotherapy can be added on to any other treatments in clinic as a take-home remedy to deepen the benefits of your care.
